About the team 

You will be working independently in a team of 5 instructors in the Wood Workshop. In this team, you support and guide students in every aspect of working with solid wood and plywood to realize their projects and provide basic training for the use of machines and tools available within the workshop. 

What will you be doing 

As our Instructor Workshop, you will be responsible for the guidance of the students in their design assignments, supervision, and management of the workshops. You seek to harmonize and connect with the lecturers and your workshop colleagues and associated companies. With regards to the quality of the facilities on offer, you take the initiative to improve them and submit your proposals to the Workshop Team Coordinator. Proposals for improvements will be in the areas of user-friendliness and opportunities for finishing materials, technical feasibility, cost price, working conditions, health and safety, and environmental impact. 

In addition, insight is required into the correlation between your own working field and the influence of the connected work processes. You develop instructional materials and you plan and organize demonstrations and instruction meetings. In addition, you draw up the introduction with regards to the technical background of working with media, facilities, materials, and equipment in the corresponding workshops. 

What you will bring to the team 

  1. Higher vocational education intellectual and professional level and /or relevant qualifications; 
  2. Proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English.  
  3. Preferably 5-10 years of relevant experience (experience in higher vocational education is an advantage) 
  4. In-house emergency basic certificate; 
  5. Pedagogical and professional didactic knowledge and skills;  
  6. Independent, proactive, and flexible attitude; 
  7. Knowledgeable and skilled in the planning and organization of the work processes and developing instructional materials; 
  8. Communicative and customer-friendly skills and attitude; 
  9. It is preferred when you are familiar, have experience, feel comfortable with all/some of these:  
  • You recognize yourself as a cabinet maker. 
  • You are experienced in manufacturing custom interiors. 
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of materials and production techniques. 
  • You are well aware of the properties of wood types and you know which is best suited for an application. 
  • You master a wide range of possibilities to handcraft/machine wood. 

Our offer  

We offer you a challenging position in an international and dynamic working environment. This concerns a part-time job for 12 hours per week, spread over two days, for the duration of a year. Salary indication in a range between € 2.650,- and € 3.549,-  a month for full-time employment (scale 8). The employment terms are in accordance with the collective labor agreement CAO-HBO, including a holiday allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
