Design tutor with a focus on spatial design and architecture

 Design Academy Eindhoven is looking for Design tutor with a focus on spatial design and architecture (8 hours a week) 

What will you be doing? 

  • Teach spatial design principles: scale, proportion, spatial relationships, functionality, aesthetics, user experience. 
  • Instruct on construction techniques, materials, and building systems. 
  • Oversee the Design Studies teaching process. 
  • Encourage independent thinking in a dynamic and diverse community. 
  • Guide students through the design process from concept to final presentation. 
  • Support and mentor students through learning how to spatially make design. 
  • Plan and organise educational activities and attend meetings and events. 

What will you bring to the team? 

  • Proven experience in spatial design and architecture. 
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Spatial Design, or related field. 
  • Proficient in 3D-software, for example AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino or Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating design solutions. 
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring in spatial design and architecture. 
  • You have your own independent design practice. 
  • Excellent English language skills. 
  • Preferably hold a BDB/BKE certificate. 
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands and able to provide a VOG certificate.

  • Salary in HBO scale 11: €4,234.28 - €5,936.77 (experience/level dependent).

About the programme and team 
 
This role involves teaching in the second year of the BA Fundamental Design Studies, the programme that focuses on developing creativity through design principles. Key areas include design grammar, methodology, research, presentation, project management, and communication skills. 

The Fundamentals programme builds essential contemporary design skills and knowledge, starting with a broad introduction in the first year and continuing through the second half of the third year. It comprises three areas: design studies, production studies, and contextual studies. You work in a team of 40 tutors as part of the Fundamentals with a coordinator and Head of BA.
